Even though the proceeding is still ongoing, as far as I am concerned the developments in our Facebook case have been among the most exciting this year. We are examining whether Facebook has a dominant position in the social media sector and is abusing this position to enforce unfair terms of service. This is a landmark proceeding. In the digital world, services are often paid for with data rather than money. Customers who pay with their data must, however, be equally protected. With this case we are, for the first time, addressing the correlation between data protection provisions and the protection of competition.
