The most irritating decision has been the EU Commission’s Google shopping decision, in particular the Commission’s opinion that Amazon is not used by consumers to search for products on the Internet, and, therefore, not a competitor to Google with respect to product searches. While it is true that I cannot search for (or rather: find) weather information, stock prices or Professor Podszun’s birthday date on Amazon the fact that I can also find other information on Google appears to me of rather little relevance when it comes to consumers’ search behavior for products. Like many, I eagerly await the Commission finally publishing its decision – maybe as a Christmas present for us antitrust junkies?
